The 100AC System™ is the core resolution system created by Scratchpad Publishing for the Dusk City Outlaws and Spectaculars tabletop roleplaying games. It combines percentile dice with proprietary Advantage Dice and Challenge Dice to give task resolution a broad spectrum of successes, failures, and additional benefits and consequences each time you roll the dice. It is simple, fast, and easy to learn.
In a 100AC System™ game, when anyone attempts an action and the outcome is not guaranteed, you roll the dice. Each roll includes percentile dice (d100), and the number rolled on those dice is compared to a percentage chance of success; rolling equal to or lower than the chance of success number means that they succeeded in the action that was being attempted. Rolling higher than the percentage chance of success means the attempt failed.
Additional positive and negative circumstances surrounding the roll also add white advantage dice (for positive circumstances) and black challenge dice (for negative ones) to the roll. Each of these dice have symbols on them that indicate additional positive (on advantage dice) or negative (on challenge dice) outcomes to the attempt. Up to four of each of these dice can be added to the roll, giving a broad spectrum of possible dice pools while still keeping the roll relatively uncomplicated. As a result, the array of possible results or any roll include:
· Success
· Failure
· Success, with additional positive outcomes (a critical success!)
· Success, with additional negative outcomes (success, but at a cost)
· Failure, with additional positive outcomes (failure, but with some upside)
· Failure, but with additional negative outcomes (a critical failure!)
The result is a system that is fun, dynamic, and makes it easy on the person running the game to make things interesting with every die roll. Not every roll needs to include advantage and challenge dice, allowing you to sometimes have quick rolls for rapid resolution, but when these dice are added to the mix the twists and turns surrounding every roll are endless!
You can purchase the 100AC System™ Dice Pack, which includes four advantage dice and four challenge dice, from the Products page, or at retailers who stock them.
